Memories of Bob
~Pat Tucker~
I didn’t get to know Bob as a coach or a P.E. teacher. My memory of Bob is the memory of a man looking for ways to lead a good life. Almost every morning he would come into the cafeteria with a smile on his face and a joke to share. On some occasions he would come and find me with that special grin, “Mrs. Tucker, I need your help.” Then he would come to the computer lab during his free time carrying a small scrap of paper. He would sit down and start to type in that special two finger way. I would tell him if he learned to use all of his fingers he could go faster, but he wasn’t interested. After he had his latest quote typed he would have me help him pick out a font, change size, spacing and centering until he was satisfied with how it looked. Then, with his quote printed, he was off to pick the just right color paper to mat his project. He then framed them and hung them up in the hall of his home. Well, I also collect quotes, so here is one that makes me think of Bob:
While we are mourning
the loss of our friend,
others are rejoicing to
meet him behind the veil.
~Mary Jo Schlatter~
I knew Bob long before I went to work for the school. He was in high school and working in the meat department at Duck’s Red Fox. He was always a very friendly person. I remember when I took the job at the school he told me that I would do just fine and if I needed anything all I had to do was ask. Well believe me I asked on many occasions. He was always there just like he said he would be. He would always give me a hard time because I would cut across the gym to get to the office. Bob always had a smile on his face and a great attitude about his job and life in general. He will be missed by many people.
